Summary
Red Sky Alliance recently learned of the defacement of multiple American websites by a self-proclaimed Iranian hacker as apparent revenge for the fatal US drone strike on Iranian General Qasem Soleimani. Evidence indicates that these are low level attacks looking to target convenient and insecure targets. The attacker, identifying as an Iranian hacker, posted a picture of General Soleimani on all of the defaced pages along with multiple social media accounts and a Gmail account; likely where the hacker can be contacted.
Details
After discovering that multiple websites were being defaced by an Iranian hacker identifying himself as “Mrb3hz4d”, Red Sky Alliance collected and analyzed that a website representing Nashua, New Hampshire was targeted by the attacker. The website listed the handles for thehacker taking responsibility as well as the phrase “Down with America.” Researchers from Treadstone 71 cyber group disclosed that the following American cities were among those targeted by the hacker:
- Jacksonville, FL
- Madison, WI
- Minneapolis, MN
- Nashua, NH
- Ogden, Utah
- San Diego, CA
- Paul, MN
- Tulsa, OK
