Recently Wapack Labs created a profile for one of the largest hotel corporations in the world and below is a summary of information found in the company threat profile. Analysts observed a concerning volume of breach data related to the hotel chain.

According to market research the hotel industry generated a global revenue of $147.57 billion in 2018.[1]  Many malicious hackers have taken notice of the high revenue that hotels and the hospitality industry generate. 

Over the past few years attackers have significantly increased not only the quantity, but also the sophistication and skill of these attacks.  One major hotel corporation has been the target of these bad actors in the past and according to Wapack Labs collections data, it remains the target of hackers looking to damage the company through data or financially.  With an annual revenue above $4 billion and over 500 properties in over 50 different countries, this company is a significant target in the retail and hospitality industry.

In late 2015, this hotel chain announced that for about four months, hackers had accessed the credit card systems at over 240 properties around the world.  A couple of years later in 2017, a data breach impacted over 40 properties in 11 countries.
